Has anyone heard of replacing the Vanagon waterboxer Water-to-oil oil-cooler with one from a Mazda 12A rotary engine? The 12A rotary engines used oil coolers similar in design to the stock VW one that your oilfilter screws onto. Seems I saw somewhere that the Maza water-to-oil unit performed better than the VW one. Is there a particular reason that people look for the Mazda air-to-oil units for the Westys? Is there something inherently better about them than any other oil cooler?
