I received this from Kumho in response to my inquiry about the RoadVenture ST tires for use on my camper. The Bridgestones are getting close to the wear bars and I still haven't made up my mind yet. Any comments or other tire selections in a 14" - 70 or 65 profile would be appreciated. Hello. Thank you for your interest and inquiry about the P215/70R14 RoadVenture ST. Per industry standardized load formulas, this tire size is designed at a 96 Load Index to carry 1554 pounds load at 35 psi. The Kumho Tire is stamped to a maximum inflation of 44 psi, but the 1554 max load must be maintaned. With this in mind, I cannot legally tell you that it is OK to replace a fitment on a vehicle with a lesser load index than specified on the vehicle placard. So, legally, I cannot recomend this substitution. Looking at your supplied GVW front and rear axle weights, and assuming an equal 50/50 load split from side to side. The 1554 load would adequately cover your load requirements. I do not know how much load you carry or if you ever run overloaded. If you run just the empty vehicle most of this time, then your decision to do this may be fine. Once again I cannot recommend the replacement of a 97R tire with a 96 tire. Best Regards. ed -- |
