Subject: How to press in bonded rubber mounting into upper track control
              arm?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Hello all,

The front drivers side suspension of my 84 was slopping around. I got the replacement upper bonded rubber mountings 251 407 077 from VanAgain a while ago. I got the upper arm off and removed the rubber mountings with a grinder to cut off the weld spot and a big hammer.

How can I press the new ones in? I only have a small vice. Should I get a friend to heat up the control arm a little and knock the bushings in?

I put up a diagram at http://www.hawkcomputing.com/vwhelp.jpg

Thanks for any help.

John
