I had a similar encounter near christchurch. I was heading up there at about 3AM, no other traffic except for rigs, and I was sitting on 140kmh (88mph) in my automatic Skyline diesel. Cop coming the other way pulled me up; when he walked up to my opened window he asked if I was having a good day? I said "Not any more!" in a polite tone. He then told me that now was the time other cops might be coming out on the road and that I'd risk a ticket if I sped further. Walked back to his car and drove off.

A few months later I was caught on this route at 130, and this was the stupid toe-the-line type. "We're only trying to keep the roads safe, and people like you aren't helping". Cretin. Cost me $140 ($57US). -- Andrew Grebneff 165 Evans St, Dunedin 9001, New Zealand <andrew.grebneff@stonebow.otago.ac.nz> Seashell, Macintosh, VW/Toyota van nut Friends don't let friends do Windows
