I have done that. I started with the Bentley procedure, then went from there. 2 people helps a lot, if not, it may not be possible. The adjustment at the gas pedal must be tight enough to move the lever into the kickdown position. There is an obvious detent when it moves to kickdown. I don't think there is any adjustment possible at the transmission lever. Once the pedal is moving the trans lever to kickdown, I would work on the throttle linkage end. I think when I did it, the spring on the throttle linkage was so strong that it offset the adjustment on the pedal end. So I had to tweak that again. That fixed my '87 shifting troubles.
