I was thinking about doing that very same thing.... 3 of my OEM hoses have the yellowish plastic protection sleeve on the entire length to the injectors... ONE does not.

Is this normal? Can these be re-routed such that they do not lay directly on the engine block, and then would not need this heat sleeve protection?

Would be great to know the size, and type (if this is a special hose, or anything).
