I envy your holidays of 2 1/2 months. We went to Newfoundland 2 years ago the 1st 2 weeks of August and stayed for most of the 8 days on the West side at various provincial parks like Blow-me-Down provincial park, Gross Morne National park and up to St. Anthony and L'anse aux Meadows. The wooden structure of the public swimming pool at Gross Morne is something you do not want to miss.

My wife's response is do not forget to bring bug repellent. On the West side they are plenty of black flies when we were there.

We are going to Isle de Madeleine or Magdalen islands this summer. With the numerous sand beaches the kids, 9 and 11, will enjoy this. The ferry goes from Souris PEI to the Islands. There is nice campground close to the ferry, Red Point provincial park. Up the road from this is a very nice beach called 'signing sands' (the sand makes a noise or sings when you walk on it).

The Cabot Trail is not to be missed on the way to Newfoundland. The side trail to cape North is worth while exploring. Camp grounds are plentiful.
