Subject: 85' Westy 1.9L slowly dying
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hey fellow listees,

I've noticed my 85' Westy has lost power in recent days, and today I decided to do a compression check.....uh oh!

cylinder 1) 100 lbs 2) 135 lbs 3) 60 lbs....yes 60!.....oh no! 4) 150 lbs......pretty good for 138K.....unfortunately it has weaker siblings

I'm going to pull off the valve covers tomorrow and check out the valves and springs......hopefully #3 has a broken spring

Otherwise I'm going to start pricing rebuilt heads, honed cylinders at Rimco here in So Cal and parts at BMA in Burbank.

Stay posted for latest developments......

The van still does 75 mph on the flats......amazingly!.....it's the canyons here in the Santa Monica mtns that kill me.

Malibu Tony 85' Westy 1.9L 5 degrees BTDC 78' 911SC Targa.......currently down due to rear bearing replacement in garage.....of course!
