For what it's worth I just installed Michelin LTX LT195/75R14/C M+S at Costco for about $100/ea. This after one of the cheepy passenger tires that came with the Weekender nearly blew out on a windy drive up to Snoqualmie Pass. Another one flatted earlier while camping. Admittedly, these tires had 40k+ miles on them, and were probably of much lower quality than your Michelin X Ones. Nonetheless, I'll definitely feel more secure having reinforced tires for any future trips. (Of course, I never realized how unsuitable my original tires while I was driving on them.)

I haven't been on the highway yet with the new tires, but I've already noticed a definite improvement in handling during around town driving.

Andrew 1986 Weekender
