Subject: Help with Distributor removal/replacement
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

OK the shi*y 009 is coming out of my newly rebuilt engine. I have the replacement (from the factory) original vacuum distributor in my possession.

As I see it the steps will be this 1. number the cap for the # plug wire corresponding to it, disconnect coil wire 2. remove the tighting screw on the block that olds down the distributor 3. take careful note of position of rotor under cap, as to put new distributor in exact same placement 4. remove distributor (are there any other bolts holding it down???) 5. put in new distributor in exact above reverse sequence 6. check gap (dad taught me how to do this when I was a kid, I think I can remember) 7. reset timing to what ???? The 009 required the timing to be really high I think

Any other notes/suggestions appreciated. I will be putting in a crane cams electronic ignition later, but will use points that are in the distributor for now.

Thanks in advance (pun, ha!)
