Subject: Load Reduction Relay/X-Contact Info
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Looking for a basic primer on the Load Reduction Relay and the X-contact ignition switch. How does they act when the go bad? Do they become intermittant or do they just fail? I know the relay kills high load circuits when the ignition switch tells the starter to crank. How could you tell if the ignition switch was going or if is the relay? Just curious. The Bentley is less clear for some reason for the '85 model year. 86+ have nice pictures of the fuse box and relays--'85 Nothin'. It is not even clear to me what circuits are controlled by the X-contact.
