Wasn't the original thought on this thread of coming up with ways to reduce the number of gas stop or increase the distance between them? Running out of gas only increases the time between gas stops (or makes the gas stops longer). There can be a relation between time and distance but rate has to be above zero. (I'm sure Enron and Arthur Anderson could make the relation work with a rate of zero). What I would like to know is how to extend the distance to about 500 miles, not 5,000 miles, (w/o tow truck, digi-wife, or other artificial mover) and keep my van looking like a van and not some terrorist plot that includes red gas cans strapped, duct taped, or fastened to the exterior/interior.
