When I started the Mercedes thread, my intention was simply to find a way to
carry a couple extra gallons for those unexpected windy days in Wyoming when
you misjudge and your consumption goes through the roof and you're sweating
bullets wondering if you'll make it to Little America or not.  Nothing more,
nothing less.  I don't plan to make regular use of the extra, i.e. extending
range--I'd rather just pull into the station and fill up.  I go 200 miles,
and stop whether I need it or not, but there have been days when 175 seemed
impossible due to headwinds, etc., and I'm just trying to avoid a call to
AAA.
