I personally LOVED the fuel thread!!!

I was (and continue to be) put to sleep by all the "tire talk" but the fuel postings were so bizarre at times, it gave me a real good laugh. Right... lets try to figure out strange things to put in our beloved Vanagon gas tanks... Hmmm.

Anyway, I was once driving a Jetta across Europe, and we were in Western Spain, and Portugal... this was in 89-90... we drove in the red zone for what seemed like hours, with no gas stations in sight. Finally a small village with a gas station!!!

We celebrated and as we pulled the one pump off the latch, and at the same time, noticed that not only was the pump nozzle too big for our tank opening (first thought being of course, "these guys sure have strange gas pumps here")... but alas, the station had only LEADED gas.

Fantastic... and we did not speak any Spanish or Portugese... we debated seriously for about 15 minutes whether or not to put a few gallons in... just to get us to a station with unleaded.

Our good judgement prevailed, and we decided (after trying to ask the nice man at the station where the next unleaded gas can be found.. using only hand signals as communication) to just drive on and risk running out of gas over possibly trashing our Cat, and completely tainting our Jetta, which had been so good to us for thousands of miles.

Then, about 500 meters, right over the next little hill, was a bright, new, BP or some other modern brand of gas station, and we celebrated for real, and filled the tank with unleaded.

Sorry, I got off on a tangent here.. what I REALLY wanted to comment on was the guy who thought that he would be able to check out some labia at his local Wal-Mart.... Maybe it is just because I am living in Europe now... seemed extra silly.

That was some of the funniest "Fruedian-slip" language I've ever seen.

Thanks for the laugh!

RSF
