Digifant ll is similar to Vanagon Digifant with these differences: A knock sensor , idle stabilization controlled by the ECU( no idle stabilizer relay), and Hall control unit. Vanagon's Hall control is in the ECU-they get hot. Golf-Jetta Digifant ll has the Hall control on a heat sink , separate from the ECU. You can't get a Digitool for it last time I checked. You can get a chip. A good book that adresses this engine is the "Watercooled Volkswagen Performance Handbook " By Greg Raven This is a book- costs about $25.00.Classic Motorbooks Robert K 1982 Westfalia 2.0 95 Golf powered 1987 Wolfsburg 1982 Yamaha Vision

Hi folks, Just picked a German made '89 Jetta with the "PF" high compression 1.8L. Bentley says it has the Digifant II fuel injection system... How similar is the Vanagon system Digifant F/I to what's in this Jetta..? Will a Digitool work with this system? Can I use one the Aussie power chips? What magazine would be most helpful in upgrading this new edition to my fleet (I've been out of the Sport compact scene for so long, I don't know what is out there anymore...) Especially looking for input from you Tuners out there.... If anything ever happens to the body or tranny of this car, the engine will most assuredly be transplanted into one of my '83.5 Westies...
