Hmmm... you both ask how I actually "PLAN" on doing this project...
Good question...
I "planned" on buying the stuff first, and treating the wheel wells, and
rear door lip... These are the major areas of rust on my '87.
Then I planned on attacking the foot wells (where we step to get in) and the
two battery compartments... all easy so far.
Then I just figured I would drive the bus up onto a few driveway ramps, and
go nuts.
All that original and previous owner undercoating did not really enter into
my equation for "HOW" to actually do this. Reality often SUCKS.
My vision, was just a shiny black bottom of a Vanagon, but maybe I will end
up just finding the spots to treat and getting them one at a time.
I just got a little excited when I saw photos of someone's "renovation" of
their axles, suspension parts, springs, etc... and they were all high gloss
black and sparkling clean ad rust-free.
Call me a dreamer.. or an idiot. I'll have photos after the summer of my
Vanagon after the "project" is completed. I plan on taking it to either
Hungary or Yugoslavia to have a complete paint job after I do the rust
attack thing.
We'll see.
