Howdy from Texas, I am preparing to buy a Vanagon with the intention of installing a Porsche 911 engine using one of the MSDS conversion kits. I have found a very, very clean low mileage Vanagon for the project. However, it has an automatic transmission. The MSDS kit does not allow the use of an automatic. Should I buy the clean automatic and then convert it to a manual (things to be converted include pedal assembly, shifting mechanisms, master and slave cylinders, and, of course, transmission), or should I wait and hope to find a clean manual Vanagon? I have searched the archive and found virtually nothing. The only helpful thing I found was someone who said that they had done this conversion, but they had a parts van available for parts and for reference. So, what do you think? Buy automatic and convert, or look for a manual? Thanks, Bruce _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com |
