Subject:      fuel problems suck and trip preparations

Well I went and got another fuel filter and took my old one out. I took it
inside and blew into it into the sink, lots of little specs of black, little
rust colored specs, and what appeared to be small grains of sand. I have
noticed after a car wash when I go to fill up with gas there is always a
little pile of sand or dirt right under the gas cap. So I am thinking
perhaps my gas cap is not sealing and crap is flying in there when I go off
road. So I rinsed and blew out the filter best I could and put it back on
and it is running fine. I have the spare in van just in case I need it.

I have been preparing the van for a trip to Panama City Beach, FL the last
week of March (this is why I get upset/scared when something goes wrong). I
feel this is going to be a long trip for the van, but I hope my preparations
make it an easy drive. I flushed and filled the coolant using the blue
stuff, spark plugs, SP wires, new tires, and shocks. I have a spare
accelerator cable, oil filter, and fuel filter. Other then pulling the gas
tank and replacing all the fuel lines is there anything else I can do to
help the van make it to Florida and back without any problems? Any other
spare parts I should take along?
