Subject: Axle sans CV being sought
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Axle being sought for an 88 GL with manual tranny. Don't need the CV's on it but do need the CV retainer circlips.

I know the axles are not all interchangeable. I don't know the length on the ones on the my 88 GL and prefer not to remove one just for measuring the length. So, anyone have any specific knowledge about interchangeability by year?

I'm planning a trip to Alaska this summer and I'm working on my emergency maintenance kit for the van. I want to make up a spare shaft with the CV's already installed, ready to go. The idea of having to change a CV on the axle shaft while traveling the Alaska Highway gives me nightmares. I know the ALCAN well, ( you can tell by that highway reference that I'm an old sourdough), that is why it gives me nightmares about CV changes on the road.

Anybody go an axle that would fit they would like to dispose of?

Thanks for any input.

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
