Subject: Tiico - cylinder head questions
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hi List,

well, with much dismay i must post, that my Tiico has just dropped a cylinder. #1 has 40 lbs. compression, and thats a real bummer, for a motor with only about 5000 miles. ran like a beast up until last friday while sitting at a stop sign, all of a sudden I had 3 cylinders running and not 4. I'm suspecting a burnt valve, so the head is coming off very soon.

Now, I know that the intake itself and head ports or custom (or not like the standard 1.8L Golf/Jetta) so the intake manifold gasket must either be reused or replaced, for it is definitley South-African. So thats a given.

But, is anyone aware of the standard 1.8L head-gasket and valves being useable on the Tiico head?

I would imagine these being OK to cross over or use if needed, but i guess i'll find out.

thanks alot for any info and help,

(now i must be getting ahold of Peter for those reimbusments)

happy travels everyone, marty
