What I was starting to formulate, was the brilliant solution that one always finds on the list, if one allows the thread to properly mature.....

Then I saw that somebody on the list, quoting the scripture, seemed to have nailed this one.

I had wanted to suggest taht VW had simply gotten a new OEM parts producer, since the parts were not anymore "exactly identical" VW saw it fit to assign a new part number to the new manufacturers strut.

Now can we talk about tires again? ;-)
