I still cannot believe they discontinued it.

I had a brilliant idea a few months ago... which is just too perfect.

As you may not know... VW has purchased not only SEAT (of Spain) but also SKODA (of Czech Republic) within the past few years.

They have developed the SKODA product line here, in Europe, rather brilliantly. Thenew SKODAs are basically VWs with a lower price tag... and they have offered a SKODA kombi (station wagon) with AWD and a souped up suspension... looks just like the AUDI off-road thing... it is a beast, and affordable!

Anyway... my idea was that VW re-release a limited edition of Vanagon-style busses, now, in the SKODA product line. This new SKODAgon would look exactly the same as the 86-91 Vanagons, and maybe be a standard AWD creature, with full pop-top and camping outfitting... automatic everything!

The death-blow to the Eurovan is was that they cost about the same as a Ferrari... but this SKODA version, would be able to benefit from the Czech (or hell... even Mexican) labor wages, and offer the vehicle at a substantial savings.

VW already re-released the Vanagon once here in Europe, with the Blue-Star, White-Star, and Red-Star, Limited Edition Vanagons...... it was a major success (but too small... only 2000 of them were produced). I vote that they do it again!
