Same as any other vehicle. Overall condition - as in - "did the PO care about the van? It's easy to tell if it has been abused. Dents and oxidized paint and ratty interior.

I always check tires for uneven wear, which tells you if the front end, shocks, etc. are OK.

Check to see if the engine is fairly clean (top and bottom).

Shift linkage OK? Test the clutch. Does it shudder?

Heck, Terry. You know as much about this as I do. Dunno why I'm wasting my time telling you all this stuff you already know.
