It's not even Wednesday yet let alone Friday-

Vanagon conversionists , extremists? As in, extreme sports?

The engine: 1995 Golf motor- extreme. (similar to the Tiico.)Radical design-introduced by VW in the 70's. (extreme thinking has always been a VW trademark) The Vehicle- The extreme box on wheels .A design that defied all the others.

The driver-an extremist -a person usually defined by their unconventional thinking -they naturally gravitate towards box -like vehicles. Viewed as very extreme for not following the conventional masses who gravitate towards Toyotas. Same people would have been riding boxcars during the Depression.

The ecu (extreme control unit), the brain of the engine, is only second to the brain of the person behind the Wheel. And the person in the engineering department who figured it out.

So many VW's to choose from-this one has a reknowned engine, the other one, is known for it's extreme amount of storage space. Put the two together and you have a extreme Vanagon powered by an extreme engine-and it's all affordable and best of all it's all Volkswagen. The car with the extreme name.

Is the cost extreme? No. Is the down time extreme to convert-not unless you aren't in a hurry. Is the power extreme? It is reasonable and a far cry from the original (mine originally Diesel).

Is the fuel mileage extreme? 20 mpg hwy is not extreme, but it's close for a 4500 lb vehicle.

Yes , I am a Vanagon extremist. I'm extremely happy with this Vanagon.

Even if you drive a Vanagon with it's original motor, you are extreme. You are extremely behind on buying that new car-all you need is the $$$$. According to those who aren't extreme, that is.

But I and most Vanagon extremists love you-we are in the same family of Van (agon) . And Volkswagen.
