 That's certainly when most people it seems have the problem...

 Mine never happens like that.It occurs after those rare occasions
 when I've had to drive the van a short distance only then shut it
 off again.If allowed to completely cool down again it will sometimes
 clack when re-started,often for 5 or 10 mins which is rather annoying.
 Has done ever since it was nearly new,now got 228,000kms on it but I've
 never actually touched the lifters.It continues to run fine so....

 Of course one should never drive a vehicle a short distance only,
 both for the sake of the car and the environment but sometimes it's
 unavoidable.I always push the van out of/in to the garage if I need
 more space for working as starting it up for such a purpose is exactly
 the time it'll start clacking some hours later when re-started.

 Does anybody else out there experience this causing the lifter to
 misbehave or is it just me? ;)
