Hi John,
The interesting (or annoying) thing is that whilst I work exclusively
on my older VWs, the WBX,having been owned by me ever since new has been
fastidiously maintained & serviced by the VW chaps I bought it
from...every service since then within 500kms of the recommended
service time.BTW,this is not a deallership as such but a family
company in business since 1967 with a genuine love of all things VW.
I wanted to own one vehicle in my life with all the service log books
properly filled in and stamped by the original dealership...just for
that warm fuzzy feeling only VW nuts would understand I guess...
and it wouldn't hurt re-sale value either ;)
Anyway,the point is,it has always had regular oil changes,using the
correct oil and oil filter...but the lifters will still knock if
I do the short drive thing....so I try not to as much as is at all
possible.
I have not however tried the MMO solution.I can't recall ever seeing
it available here in Oz for sale...any other Oz listees know if it
can be bought here?
