i thought it was a nifty idea.. i could do without the krapper part of it, but apparently VW thought it was a nifty idea also to have a wooden box between the front seats of a westy as all the 74-79 deluxe westys had a wooden console box with a padded (plaid) upholstered lid.. today theyre rare items, usually fetching $75-$100 each at vw shows if in decent shape..
