Speaking of using or switching to synthetic oil, does anyone on the list know if the synthetics use TBN and antioxidation additives in adequate quantity to enable an extention of the engine oil change time interval to two years? I drive 3500 miles/year in each vehicle, and only rarely are they driven less than 10 miles at a stint. I'd love to use synthetic oil but worry that acid formation and oxidation could potentially harm my engines if I tried to extend the drain interval to two years. I could justify the added expense of a synthetic oil if I could safely reduce the oil change frequency by 75%.
