The EuroVan Camper has a plastic roof.  My guess is that it weighs a lot less
than the Vanagon Westy roof.  The new Weekenders have the struts, but the
roof is more compact.


You would need some seriously strong struts to raise your Westy roof, and
then it would be real tough to close.
