Most auto makers build a vehicle to get you through the warranty period. They really think that ends their responsibility. VW air cooled are perfect vehicles for Europeans, moderate climate, short trips. Ever notice how most companies writing extended warranties went broke or their CEOs took off to Brazil with the premiums. I think the Waser Boxers are a good engine too, its just a real challenge to find one that hasn't been abused, neglected or improperly rebuilt.
