John.......My wife is making me some new curtains and I also have been looking for a substitute for the springs. So far, no luck, but I remember, not too long ago, that someone posted information re: RARE EARTH MAGNETS from Lee Valley Hardware. I think I'm going to try the REMs sewn into the casings. That way I can put 'em up or take 'em down at will. The Lee Valley Hardware/Veritas site is at: <http://www.leevalley.com/home/main.asp>. While searching their site I found that they have a rare earth magnet curtain rod holder that is tapped for a 1/4" rod; they also supply the glas-reinforced rod in 30" lengths. These curtain holders are made for steel doors. Why wouldn't they work in the Vanagon? Hummmm..... and if 30" isn't enough length, you could always go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a length of aluminum rod or brass rod and thread the ends with a 1/4" die; screw the ends to the magnet posts, install the curtains, and viola! Hope this helps.............Rodney
