Ward, Sometimes we tend to get a bit carried away. VW introduced the wasserboxer to the North American market in the middle of the '83 model year. Unless the previous owner has done something strange, the engine in your van should be a 1.9L. Kind of anemic (82hp new from the factory) but a fairly solid engine aside from the heads and gasket issues. Self-Banishment is a good thing. I was recently trying to find out an answer to a serious question about engine size in an '84 GL (does size really matter?), and nobody chimed in to give me a real answer. <Big Snip> Seriously though, when did they start making the “Wasserboxer”. I’m too lazy to search the archives, and I know someone out there has the info. I’ll trade info for an ‘84 Gl rear bumper-dented-badly. Hehe>> |
