Allan,

I help Dennis in his garage(sometimes) when he is backed up, and I would say we have followed his procedure at least 50 times with no problems. The trick is to have a helper at the front of the van watching the flow, while Dennis is in the back adding coolant and keeping the idle up. Once we get a consistent, bubble free flow up front I close the bleeder and we wait for the radiator fan to come on. I check that both sides of the radiator are getting warm, thereby ensuring we have good flow. Once the radiator fan comes on and goes off, you can be pretty sure you did a good job.

Tim
