We bought a '02 Eurovan for my wife... got too tired of all the calls - "now the vanagon is doing this....." and having to diagnose and fix over the phone while my wife and kids sit on the road. I still drive a diesel van, but needed a newer vehicle for them.... Comparing to all the other vans on the market today, the Eurovan was the only one that had that kind of interior space, short of a conversion van, which offered very poor driveability for my wife. While I'd trade it in a second for a diesel van, or a manual transmission, it's simply the least of all evils in todays "disposable" auto market. There's absolutely no reason a vehicle needs 200 hp. 17 MPG is atrocious. That said, the traction control and ABS make me feel better having my family in when I'm not there, and the heated seats are awesome for our Wisconsin winters.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation on this list about the EuroVan. I've liked every VW van I've ever driven or ridden in. I can understand Vanagon owners that like their vehicle, I just can't understand this hatred for the EuroVan.

If this list is still around in 10 years, I'll bet the address will have changed to eurovan@gerry.eurovan.com and the vintage bus list will change from vintagebus@type2.com to vintagevanagon@type3.com
