- It's my turn to answer a CV question.

I rebuilt my CV axles with four new CV joints and boots. It is a greasy job, best done with surgical gloves. You need a snap-ring pliers, a vise, and sledge hammer to knock the old CV's off the shafts. sand and paint the shafts if you're particular, and then slide on the boots, then CV joints, then snap ring, then grease.

It might take you a day's work unless your'e fast. The results are smooth power transition, no slack, and no noise.

Have a CV making funny knocka knocka noise, figger it's about shot. Have heard that the rebuilt halfshaft route ain't the best way to go since they machine the shaft and ruin the temper, giving them an effective lifespan of about 3 months.

Any thoughts??
