Subject: Tiico won't start. Advice or Phone Help Please!
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Folks, Thanks to all of you who have contacted me privately about my Tiico troubles over the past few days. To recap, I am attempting to repair an '87 Westy on which a Tiico conversion was performed many months and several thousand miles ago. It ran well until parked one day, then refused to start the next. The engine turns over normally, but doesn't even try to start. After only a few seconds of cranking, it is easy to smell gas by the engine. A spark plug was removed, grounded to the block, and a spark was observed jumping the gap regularly while cranking the engine. Various electrical connections in the engine compartment such as the Oxygen sensor and fuel injectors were re-seated. The two fuses in the wiring harness next to the ECU were checked and appear fine. The ECU connector appears to be seated. I have run out of ideas, but have a good selection of hand tools, a digital multimeter, jumper wires, Bentley, and the Tiico installation guide. I did not do the conversion myself, nor am I very familiar with the VW I4 engine in general, or the Tiico fuel system in particular. I would appreciate detailed advice from any listees who are mechanically inclined, especially if they are familiar with this particular engine. Anyone willing to stand by and talk me thru trouble-shooting procedures by telephone would be especially helpful. Thank you very much (in advance)!!!

Best,

Chris '87 Westy Tiico
