Hi gang, well i'm in now, picked up an 81 air cooled westie, runs great too.

I know this question has come up before, but really how much heat can i expect to get out of my van. I can feel a little from the side window vents, but thats it. I crawled under the van, and all the pipes, sheet metal, and controls are intact, the heating vent is set to dump the heat into the fat heat pipe that runs under the van. The inside controls are set to max heat.

Is this as good as it gets or did i miss something that is not connected or working?

Also the ventilation fan does not seem to move anymore hot air, acutally it seems to blow in cold outside air. I did notice a fan hooked up to the alternator that seems to blow the hot air into the ductwork. If this is it, it seems inadequate for the length of pipe the hot air has to travel along. Perhaps an inline fan along the way would help things.

Any thoughts on this, sorry if it's floggin a dead horse, but there seems to be alot of heat that could be used inside the van if it could be captured correctly.

Cheers

Gerry Bolda 81 westie
