I believe the dome light should come on when any of the 4 doors is opened.

The pantry light is not intended to have a 3-way setting. You just turn it on when you want it on.

Do I have a wiring problem, fuse problem or are the switches wired to > something else (alarm system?) or nothing?

Someone could have wired them to an alarm system, but it wasn't that way from the factory. I would start by checking the switches to ensure they're getting voltage, then work backwards from there.

Secondly has anyone with a > Westfalia ever installed a dome light into the ventilation air channel above > the sliding door.

Check the archives, this was discussed about 2 months ago.

Also, the PO of my westy installed a cool light next to the pantry light--it has a dimmer-type switch, and is a "snake light" about 12" long. At max brightness, it only draws 5W, but is amazingly bright. I almost never use the pantry light--I can have the 5W on for several hours, and never go into the yellow zone on my main battery, whereas the pantry light will make me go yellow in about 1 hour or so.

HTH.
