Actually, rather than purchase it, you can make your own with over the counter products. Easy to make, cheaper than regular diesel (depending on where and how you buy your supplies), more environmentally friendly, and it smells like french fries to boot. Take a look at:

They have more details on bio-diesels and links to sites with 'recipies' plus a host of other 'environmentally friendly' ideas (solar cooking, etc).

One thing that is funny, though, is that, according to 'journey', the most cost-effective vehicle to own is an older Land Rover, like the kind you used to see on "Wild Kingdom". I guess they don't take 'coolness' into consideration, or they would have selected a Tri-Star. Of course I do like the rugged looks of the Land Rover, too.

As far as viability of bio-diesel fuels, Honolulu is running all of their recycling trucks on bio-diesel.

If I had the room to make and store it, I would. Plus the fact that you can make everyone sitting beside you in traffic have sudden urges to go to McDonald's...
