ah, i think that lego piece is the dealer's plug for some sort of test equipment. i misunderstood which piece you were talking about.

and i say fatal: mine was, for the simple fact that it was wobbling so much it had cracked the lower bracket and was ready to torque off the bolt that holds that on.
