Subject: Value of a '66 Westy?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hi List,

This isn't really Vanagon-related I reckon, but I'm not sure where to check on this...I found a '66 Westfalia Poptop in a guy's front yard, it's got some rocker rust and surface rust but is pretty much all original...And it needs a new generator, which the guy has but hasn't installed, and it needs brake work, but he claims that if the new generator was in, it would start right up and drive away..it has a 1500 motor converted to 12v, and the interior is in great shape. He has all of the original Westy stuff that came with it too, and even the poptop canvas is in good shape.

I stopped by the guy's house the other day, having driven past it several times and just couldn't resist, and knocked on the door and had a long talk...He's the 2nd owner, he bought it in '69, and it has 110k miles on it (and he loved my Vanagon but drives a Ford van currently.)

I have room in the garage and a few dollars saved; he wants $800 for it...good deal or no?

Thanks! Joe T. '85 GL 'bertha' Denver, CO
