Subject: Re: 1.9 Liter WasserBoxer Rebuild Kit...need reccomendations!!!

Fellow vanagon types The idea of a kit to freshen up a 1.9 sounds nice but there is a little bit more to rebuilding a 1.9 engine than swapping out the rings, bearings and gaskets. The 1.9 engine with 180 k needs to be align bored for sure!!! the cam is also in need of grinding as the crank might also need to be reground. the rods need to be resized and so on. Rebuilding engines is about restoring the dimensions and clearances so the components will work together. with any luck you will have oil pressure when the engine is at warm idle and it wont leak oil as fast as you pour it in. Then there is the learning curve on the things what you did not know that you did not know I stock engines and engine parts for wbx engines but I don't have what I call a engine kit. selling a kit would be less than fair to someone that thinks they can plug and play engine parts. I also align bore 1.9, 2.0 and 2.1 and have most size align bore bearings on hand for cases I have bored. I even have std, 20 and 40 over mains for the 1.9 cases with over size thrust in both std and 10 under cranks I also offer tech support to my customers that buy there engine parts from me When you buy engine parts from a parts store you will very quickly see how little they know about the job you are tiring to do and how little they can guide you threw the rebuild they are after all sales men not gear heads B.
