I have removed Vanagon gas heaters many times- the easiest way is to roll
the vehicle on it's side. this way takes about two-three hours.
Getting underneath takes longer.
If you put it on it's side- remove the under dash components, the rear air
intake screen and metal cover, harness and tank filler neck first.
the rear blower above the trans will be easier to remove with the van on
it's side also.
A cordless drill is handy, a wire cutter, pry bar for dealing with the
filler neck ,10 and 13 mm sockets and wrenches, phillips and flat screw
drivers and a small sledge hammer.
Make sure you get the fuel line "t" also.
