I'm having trouble with the fuel guage in the 85gl I bought about two months back. It seems to work fine from full down to1/4 tank then anything below that what seems to happen is that the guage will work now and then, I'll be driving and it will come up or sometimes it'll drop to the bottom. If I add fuel to the tank and it comes above 1/4 tank then the gauge reads fine and does not falter until it gets below 1/4 tank.... then the problem repeats. I have removed the cluster and checked all the connections where the cluster plugs into the wiring harness, this did help get the clock working but that's it. I check for voltage on the pin that corresponds to the fuel gauge ( on the plug to the cluster) while the gauge was not working and there was no voltage?? I have also replaced the voltage stabilizer and this did not make a difference. I am not in possession a Bentleys YET, so I'm not sure what to look for now. perhaps any connections between the gauge and the sender, that's where the manual would help. I know with my jetta the sender is accessible through a panel in the trunk .... but I fear this is not the case with the van. So before I think about dropping the tank is there other things I should be looking for? thanks Ken Sidorchuk Vancouver, BC Canada.
