I've been buying from junkyards all my life.
The first part I ever bought was a trunk lid for a 39 Ford Coupe, cost
$3.00 (1957)
I bought a 32 Ford Five window coupe for $20.00, fixed the flats and
drove it home. (1960)
Bought a Bantam two door $20.00 (1962)
My last purchase was two 89 Vanagon front seats with arm rests and the
matching door panels $50.00.
A restored Crosley is worth about $5000.00 and all the engine parts are
still available, they are Fageol Engines that were used on everything
from welding machines to water pumps, many are still in service (engines
that is). It was the very first over head cam engine mass produced.
I recently bought an RX7 oil cooler (dealer retail $700.00) with the
thermostat (dealer retail $118.00) for $20.00. It had the lines and
fittings. The copper seals on the Banjo bolts are retail $2.90 each.
I always buy every fuel pump ($10.00) , every speedometer ($10.00) every
top grill ($10.00) and a few other items even if I don't need them.
I've been buying Vanagon parts from the same five yards for seven years,
if something I buy doesn't work, they give me another one.
I think these guys are a God send to anybody that hates dealership
prices.
If $15.00 is not a good deal send it to me at $15.00 + UPS, I'll take it.
The core charges are $25.00.
