Here is the exhaust system I bought for my 1981 Westy. I bought it from Chirco.com & it is a Bug Pack System. Part # CHI2086-10 EXHAUST SYSTEMS Type 2 w/ type 4 engine, header only, 1972 thru 1974/ 1980 thru 1983 $56.95 Part # CHI2575 Single glass pack muffler, type 2, fits chi 2086-10 $46.95 I bought the glass pack muffler, but thay also have a Single quiet pack muffler # CHI2576 for $46.95. Their web site states that the Manufacturer is QUALITY CHIRCO PRODUCTS, but the boxes were from Bug Pack. I was very happy with the way Chirco.com handled my order & it arrived very fast. The only problem was with the Bug Pack Muffler & that was not Chirco.com's fault it is a design problem. The support strap on the muffler was not long enough to reach where it was to be fastened to. I solved it by using a longer bolt & putting 12 washers to take-up the space. My solution seems to work just fine. Check the pics at the belweb site. http://geocities.com/mikecoke/exhaust.html Mike 81 Westy 74 Thing ------------------------------

I need to replace my (non cat) exhaust system. The systems on 72-74 buses are interchangable with those on air cooled Vanagons. SO I have a few options I am sure.

Does anyone sell a complete Stainless Steel one (ie not just the muffler? Anyone on the list have a good experience with performance exhaust? Anyone use S&S Headers? I was looking at:

Thanks, Chris
