The Uncle Earl way----what a joke---

The price of the repair work, along with refinishing depends on how high
of quality you demand---

Paint the van with straight enamel ----cheapest ( zero color retention )

Paint the van with acrylic enamel---better, but figure on a couple of
years on the fading routine

Paint the Van with a modified enamel / urethane real good color
retention, and figure on 5 to 7 years of good color hold out.

Paint the van with a full blown urethane----figure on going through 2 or
3 engines before the color goes bye, bye.

Don't sand blast the Van, much too aggressive--try some sort of media
blasting, with crushed walnuts or some other gentler to the metal type
product.

This will make for less surface prep on the other end---

One last thought---be sure to have the shop wherever you take the
vehicle in question to be refinished, lay a coat of self etching primer,
over the area to be painted, and then another coat of filling primer
over that----this will guarantee all the older paint, and rust is sealed
off good.

Now the price---lower 1/4th of the van-----

So your talking about from the body line just above the wheels--all the
way around or the line above the door handles?

If it's above the door handles--your a little short on the denaro's
--just above the wheels--maybe $900.00.
