I found used heat exchangers at Malahat Auto on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada for $125 each in the fall. Good deal considering $599 was the average for new ones(each). I used the Dansk heat exchangers on both my 1976's ( one set supplied by VW during that wonderful and mysterious free "heat exchanger evaluation" thing about 5 years ago).

Anyway... they worked great, and I have no qualms about the quality, which appeared at least as good as the originals.=

I've noticed that my heat exchangers haved rusted through and its time for new ones. I have heard that NOS is better than the Danish OEM is this true? Anyone experimented with high temperature coatings on these? If I buy rust free used ones is there anything I should watch for? I am running air cooled federal setup with no cat (stock in Canada) 071-256-091B & 071-256-092B.

Thanks, Chris
