If you are adding coolant for more than 3-4 engine hot cold cycles, then you are leaking. If no visible signs on the outside, may be a heater core or internal leak.

After I replaced and bled my coolant a few months ago, the license plate tank gets sucked dry about once a week. I have ensured that every connection is tight and I am not loosing fluid anywhere. I have heard that the system is self bleeding so I must have missed some air pockets. Is there any need to worry as long as the main tank is full and I fill up the reserve everytime it gets low? I am leaving on a 900 mile trip friday and am wondering if I should try and bleed the coolant system again before I leave.
