Malcolm,

I have had the same experience with orange anti freeze and have gone back to the green as well. I have had heads off of quite a few Vanagons and have never seen any damage where the anti freeze touches the head no matter what color it was. I believe the head corrosion is caused by condensation forming between the rubber head gasket & the head. It forms, it sits there, and it corrodes. Some engines do not display much corrosion if any. Maybe because they were always used for long journeys that caused the engine heat to dissipate the condensation.

| This may sound goofy, but with Green coolant I have NO leaks, with the VW orange | coolant, I get seepage at most joints and even around the head gaskets. So I | switched back to Green coolant and I change it every year. Try that????? | | You say that: "I took the cap off and could see the air bubbles coming through out | the hose up the tank at idle." I do not see BUBBLES, just see coolant streaming in | the (left) expansion/reservoir tank. m2cw Malcolm
